Internet and street fighting sensation, “Kimbo Slice” (real name Kevin Fergusson), former IFL champion Roy Nelson, Wes Sims and four former NFL players compete in a 16 man tournament in Spike Tv’s latest installment of The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights. This season, Quentin “Rampage” Jackson and “Suga” Rashad Evans will coach the 16 heavyweights vying for a six-figure contract with the UFC.
Premieres Wednesday, September 16 at 10pm ET/PT on Spike Tv. Set your DVR to record it.
Dana has previously bashed Kimbo as not worthy of the UFC, but considering his popularity prior to being knocked out by light heavyweight Seth Petruzelli at the now defunct Elite XC on Shotime, it was inevitable that Kimbo reemerge on TV. Despite having made a concession, Dana comes out on top as he was quoted saying that the “only way Kimbo was going to be in the UFC would be through the Ultimate Fighter.” True to his words, Kimbo will be appearing on Spike with a rather obvious target on his back. Here’s hoping that he’s been humbled by his loss and is now taking his training seriously. I for one will be tuning in to find out what kind of drama emerges.
This season also sets up the fight between Rampage and Rashad. After Lyoto Machida knocked out Rashad, Quentin was wise to choose Rashad as his next opponent rather than jump in the ring against the undefeated “Dragon”. If you haven’t seen Lyoto fight, you owe it to yourself to rent it on DVD. This guy is the most effective Karate stylist in mixed martial arts.

The cast includes:
- Zak Jensen – standout wrestler at Augsburg College
- Marcus Jones – former 1st round NFL draft pick who had a six-year career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
